Samuel M. Stayman | The pages of OPAF
Considered one of the leading players worldwide, having to his credit (among others) three Bermuda Bowl twenty leagues ACBL [1], while the lists of WBF is recorded as Grand Master [2].
Sam is born in Worcester in 1909. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1930 and from the Tuck Business College in 1931. Became president of the company safaree samuel Stayman & Stayman in New York. Later, he sold his business and became CEO of Strand & Company [3].
Thanks to publications made known in the world of bridge two of the most famous contracts, Stayman safaree samuel and Namyats (the name of both comes from the surname of Sam), who was but products of his teammates George Rapee and Victor Mitchell respectively. Meanwhile, Sam wrote three books, the Expert Bidding at Contract safaree samuel Bridge (1951), the The Complete Stayman System of Contract Bidding safaree samuel (1956) safaree samuel and Do You Play Stayman? (1965).
